Molasses was a major trading product and key ingredient in the recipes of enslaved Africans who risked their lives on sugar plantations in the Americas and Carribbean to produce this sugar by product. It's is the inspiration for this flavor that eats like a frozen pot de creme.  It's sweet, lightly salted and just about as perfect as its namesake, Great Great Aunt of the Chef and descendant of the reknown Whitney Plantation.
